COLORADO
     Peerless Tyre Co. recently opened a new tire store in Wheat Ridge. The company currently has 58 retail outlets and plans to add locations in Sheridan, Wyo., and Albuquerque.
     WORLDPAC, a nationwide parts distributor, has opened a new distribution facility in Boulder. The Boulder location is one of several recent additions in the United States and Canada.
    David Carroll, Tracy Industries regional sales operations manager, visits with Claire Cummings, GO Chrysler Jeep West wholesale parts specialist. The dealership recently signed an agreement with Tracy to distribute remanufactured transmissions. GO Chrysler Jeep West, an AutoNation dealership in Golden, recently partnered with Tracy Industries Inc. to distribute remanufactured transmissions in Colorado, said Claire Cummings, wholesale parts specialist. "We have a distribution channel that can get a unit to any one of their customers in two hours," said David Carroll, regional sales operations manager for Tracy.   
     The Automotive Service Association of Colorado (ASA-CO) received recognition for its legislative efforts during ASA's Celebration of Excellence last May in Nashville, Tenn.   Don Seyfer, of Seyfer Automotive in Wheat Ridge, accepted the Legislative Award, recognizing ASA-CO's effort to educate its congressional representatives about Right to Repair legislation.
     In other ASA-CO news, Seyfer Automotive earned the Communicator of the Year award from ASA national. The award recognizes a shop's overall marketing plan and efforts to educate the motoring public. Donny Seyfer also reported that he's started a new radio show called GearHeads that airs on AM 630 each Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
     FinishMaster, a distributor of automotive refinish supplies, raised more than $800 during its annual golf tournament in the Denver area last June. The funds, collected from the 136 golfers, were donated to the Children's Hospital Foundation, said Chris Johns of FinishMaster.
    CARQUEST recently opened a company-owned jobber store on Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs. This spring CARQUEST opened a company-owned jobber store on Garden of the Gods Road in Colorado Springs. CARQUEST officials said the opening is designed to better serve wholesale customers on the east side of town. 
     M & M Cooperative of Yuma sold its tire store on East Eighth Avenue and leased the building to Colorado Retail Ventures. The business is now called Eagle Tire Center.
     Ron Esch, owner of Two Rivers Chevrolet and Red Mountain Subaru Nissan in Glenwood Springs, recently sold his dealerships to the Vista Auto Group. Esch also has a deal in the works to sell Canyon Honda to the group. The new owners plan to relocate the dealerships to the west side of Glenwood Springs.
     Brian Huey and Steve Hubbert recently purchased Platte River Automotive in Bailey from former owner Rory Macdonald.  Macdonald now works for Aspen Park Auto Parts. The business and land were sold for approximately $200,000.Marc Beasley (l.), former APS distribution center general manager and, until recently, owner of CARQUEST B-Mor Auto Parts in Longmont, Colo., was recently named the Automotive Parts & Service Association (APSA) representative for Colorado and Wyoming, APSA President Jim Quinten announced recently.
NEW MEXICO
     ASA of Central New Mexico (ASA-CNM) held a PowerStroke diesel training course for its members on July 9. Blue Diamond Parts LLC co-sponsored the event that was held at Performance Tool & Equipment's training facility in Albuquerque.
 
WYOMING
     WyoTech announced that it now offers armed forces scholarships at six of its campuses across the country, including its Laramie location. "Our armed forces personnel are under the most challenging of circumstances--especially those in Iraq," said Stephen Whitson, president of WyoTech's Daytona Beach campus and retired Air Force Colonel. "WyoTech can give them the best training available to help them excel in today's workforce." The school's offers several automotive-related programs.
     Mike Ivie recently opened Rocky Mountain Auto on 717 Shoshoni St. in Thermopolis. The mechanical repair shop does everything from small engine repair to tractor trailer work.
     Argi Star Inc., a parts jobber store in Afton, is under new ownership. The new owner, Jared Hansen, has renamed the 30-year business Hansen Auto.
     Plains Tire & Battery Co. in Laramie has appointed Chris Cleven to serve as its manager and Scott Baysinger assistant manager. Cleven's industry experience includes a stint as an instructor at Wyoming Technical Institute. Baysinger is a graduate of the University of Wyoming and a Gillette native.
     Shawn Langton recently opened AutoPro Service & Repair, located at 908 S. Washington St. in Douglas. Langton has experience working as a technician at an independent shop and a Ford dealership. The shop performs general repair, motorcycle repair, and custom fabrication.
