Albuquerque—Officials from Bernalillo County’s Office of Environmental Health recently awarded certificates of success to 29 South Valley auto recyclers for their implementation of key pollution prevention practices, part of the county’s Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) program.
Those prevention practices range from the proper disposal of batteries and automotive fluids to maintaining proper paperwork for incoming vehicles, officials said.
The office of Environmental Health has been successful in establishing a partnership of affected community residents and owners of auto recyclers to identify and implement pollution prevention practices for the auto recycling industry as part of the CARE Project.
In addition to receiving a certificate of success, auto recyclers will also be eligible to participate in an advertising media campaign encouraging customers to shop at auto recyclers displaying the CARE logo.
