Taipei, Taiwan--Chiang Hsu chief executive officer of TYC Brother Industrial Co., took office as the newly elected chairman of the Taiwan Auto Body Parts Association (TABPA) on July 15.  Hsu replaces John Lu of Jui Li Enterprise Co., who had served since August 2006.

Hsu, who earned a master's degree and doctorate in management and organizational psychology from the University of Wyoming, brings a unique background to TABPA.  Prior to joining TYC as CEO in 2006 he held a variety of positions in academia and business, having worked and consulted in both the private and public sectors.

Hsu served as dean of the Institute of Industrial & Management Science and chairman of the Department of Industrial Management Science at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.  He has taught in universities in the United States, Canada, and Taiwan.

Hsu was chairman and CEO of China Shipbuilding Corp. of Taiwan and a member of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs' privatization committee.  He has consulted for household-electronics company, TECO Group, and served as a director on the boards of numerous businesses.

Chiang Hsu, CEO of TYC Brother Industrial Co., has been elected chairman of the Taiwan Auto Body Parts Association.
"It is an honor to have been elected chairman of TABPA," Hsu said.  "TYC Brother has taken an active role in the organization over the past few years as issues surrounding the certification of aftermarket automotive lighting has gone beyond the traditional SAE, DOT, and ECE regulations.

"The business and economic climates in both Taiwan and the U.S. are very challenging today," he said.  "My goal is to organize the TABPA membership so that all of our companies can weather the storms.

"Additionally, growth of the global marketplace presents its own set of challenges," Hsu said.  "TABPA members need to understand the uniqueness and demands of each market and address them accordingly."
