Fluke introduces new software capabilities for Fluke 287 and 289 True-RMS Logging Multimeters
RSS Feed

Everett, Wash.--Fluke Corp. has announced a new, free software package for the powerful Fluke 287 and 289 True-RMS Logging Multimeters.  The enhanced software delivers a variety of functional benefits; users can download the package free from Fluke and install it themselves.

The Fluke 287 and 289 Trending Digital Multimeters are designed from the start to be expandable and field upgradeable.  Users can easily add new capabilities by installing improved firmware.  The new Firmware V1.1 is the first such update since the Fluke 287 and 289 were introduced in October 2007.

Among the key new features:

Zoom on trend provides unprecedented ability to view and analyze TrendCapture data and see detail at X5 magnification.  Rotary switch memory when switching positions between AC or DC A/mA and uA.  New and improved Trend View graph plot.  This new plot algorithm plots the minimum, maximum, and sample point for each sample interval record and event record.
New adjustable recording and auto hold thresholds enable users to specify a percentage change in the readings that will begin a new event.

The Fluke 289 Industrial Trending Digital Multimeter has advanced functionality for diagnosing problems in electronics, plant automation, power distribution and electromechanical equipment.  With the new software installed, its logging function now stores up to 15,000 readings for unattended monitoring of signals over time.  Users can save multiple logging sessions before PC download is necessary and review logged readings in graphical format directly on the meter display using on-board TrendCapture capability.

The Fluke 287 Electronics Multimeter incorporates advanced features for electronics professionals.  Like the Fluke 289, it features a large 50,000-count 1/4 VGA display with a white backlight that can simultaneously display multiple sets of measurement information.  The new software enables logging up to 15,000 readings from multiple sessions without downloading.

To download the Firmware V1.1 for free, owners can visit the firmware upgrade page and follow instructions there.  Those who purchased their Fluke 287 or Fluke 289 multimeters without a Fluke USB-IR serial cable can order one free by following instructions on the upgrade page.
