Overland Park, Kan.--The Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair (CCAR) has announced the introduction of a new module for its “S/P2” (Safety and Pollution Prevention) e-learning program on “Compressed Natural Gas Vehicles.” The new module is designed to promote awareness of regulations and safety procedures for repairing Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles.
The module covers Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations relating to NGV and CNG vehicles, proper identification of such vehicles, and safety hazards. It also outlines inspection requirements and rules for conversion systems.
“With the growing population of vehicles incorporating new technologies, such as CNG and alternative fuels, we want the S/P2 courses to address the corresponding environmental and safety issues that our subscribers will see in their shop and school settings,” said Robert G. Stewart, CCAR executive vice president.
The new module is available at no additional cost to users of three versions of the S/P2 “Safety” course: S/P2 for Mechanical Service, S/P2 for Collision Repair, and S/P2 for Heavy-Duty Fleets.
