From l., ASCCA member Mark Redfield of Marks Automotive in Newport Beach and CAWA members Gary Mercer of Dura International; Darryl Webb of Haps Auto Supply in Lakewood; Brian Webb of Hub Auto Supply in Costa Mesa; state Sen. Tom Harman; CAWA director of Government Affairs Jennifer Zins; and Steve Salustri of RPS Marketing meet at Hub Auto Supply in Costa Mesa to discuss legislative and regulatory issues impacting the automotive aftermarket and business industries in California. Sacramento--The California/Nevada/Arizona Automotive Wholesalers' Association (CAWA) held a private meeting with state Sen. Tom Harman at Hub Auto Supply in Costa Mesa on March 18 to talk about critical legislative and regulatory issues of concern to the association and its members.

Harman, a Republican, is member of the Senate's Transportation and Housing Committee and the Business, Professions, and Economic Development Committee, two key panels that CAWA-related issues move through.

CAWA officials said they discussed issues such as attempts to erode workers' compensation reforms, skyrocketing costs of health care for employees, repeated attempts to lock the aftermarket out from providing parts and repairs to consumers, increased need for career and technical training programs, and actions by the California Air Resources Board to extend warranties and propose bans of automotive-related products, eliminating choices in what parts and services consumers can use on their vehicle.
