E-Z Money R.V. Truck & Accessory has opened in Burley under the ownership of Mark and Denise Martin, who opened E-Z Money Auto in 1996. The new facility will have two technicians on staff for RV repairs.
Also in Burley, Royce & Sons, a tire store since 1968, has moved to a new location on East Main Street. The firm sells tires, performs alignment services, and has a full-time technician on staff for repairs.
Rogers Motors expects to open its expanded Toyota/Scion dealership in Lewiston this month. The $1.36 million projects added space and new features, such as a wireless Internet work area for customers, a car wash, and more space for its showroom and service departments.
Newly opened in Nampa is The Downtown Garage, a full-service repair facility owned by Justin Arthur and his brother-in-law, Damon Finch.
OREGON
Evan Lehman of Roberson Chrysler-Jeep in Salem has been named the Service Manager of the Year for the Western Zone of Chrysler Corp., a territory that includes Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, California, and Nevada. The award is presented to the service manager with the best customer service and retention.
Larry Campbell, a new-car auto dealer in Hermiston, has been elected president of the Oregon Auto Dealers Association (OADA). OADA represents 256 franchised auto dealers in the state.
A movie titled "Extremely Used Cars: There is No Hope" was recently filmed in Albany at the South Pacific Auto Sales facility. The film is a loose sequel to the 1980 "Used Cars" that starred Kurt Russell. Mark Donnell of Albany directs the movie.
Hillyer's Mid-City Ford in Woodburn has won the President's Award from Ford Motor Co. for its outstanding sales and service.
The Doran auto dealership group has two major projects under way in McMinnville. A new home for its Toyota/Scion dealership is being constructed on Doran Drive off Highway 99W, and a renovation of its Chevrolet/Subaru operation downtown will be completed this fall.
Bernie Bishop Mazda has earned the Mazda Gold Cup certification for 2008. The Brookings dealership was awarded the certification based on customer satisfaction results, maintaining a quality dealership image, and ensuring that sales and service staffs maintain Mazda training requirements.
The new 59,000-square-foot Kendall Toyota dealership in Eugene recently held a grand opening of its new green facility. It is the first LEED gold-rated dealership on the West Coast, so designated because of the environmental cares taken during design and construction. The new dealership features will reduce water use 50 percent by using a rainwater-capture system, high-efficiency plumbing fixtures, and less-thirsty native plants in its landscaping design. It also will generate some 30 percent of its own energy by using photovoltaic panels and save 20-30 percent of normal energy operating costs by using high-performance heating and cooling systems. In addition, 10-20 percent of the building's furnishings will be recycled products, including flooring and ceiling panels.
Leif's Auto Collision Centers has now opened its Lake Oswego operation, which will be a full-time detail center for the Portland-area chain and will perform collision repair and other services.
C and C Automotive Repair opened a few months ago in Veneta. Owned by Frank Cosenza, a 25-year veteran of auto repair, the five-bay shop is co-owned by his wife, Lori.
Ross Roe of Grants Pass has been named Oregon's Prime Time Awards Outstanding Older Worker by Experience Works, a national organization that raises awareness of older workers' contributions to society. The Roe Motors auto dealer was cited for his longstanding community activism, including a tree-planting effort on Elk Lane. Roe, 80 and still active in his GM dealership, received his award in Washington, D.C., in late September.
Karl Catterson and Gail Wilson are the new owners of Moose 4x4 and Automotive in Prineville. Catterson is an ASE-certified Master Technician and has 20 years of experience in auto repair.
Schnitzer Steel Industries has announced that its Auto Parts Business division has acquired three self-service used auto parts firms in Arkansas and Texas. The Portland-based firm now operates 38 self-service facilities in 16 states and Canada, as well as 18 full-service used-parts operations. Schnitzer is also one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of recycled metal products in the United States with 39 operating facilities in 12 states.
Timberline Dealerships group in Portland has announced that it is participating in the Conquest parts program, which provides wholesale collision and mechanical parts to its independent repair customers at aftermarket prices. Timberline is one of a few Chrysler dealerships in the region involved in the wholesale parts program.
WASHINGTON
Hundreds of customers from throughout Western Washington and British Columbia attended an open house at Yamato
Engines/Jasper Engines NW and Yamato Parts Warehouse (YPW) in Bellingham on Sept. 10. The event featured tours of the new YPW product offerings as well as the engine remanufacturing facility.
A&B Motors, a Spokane Valley auto repair shop, is expanding its facilities and moving to a 4,800-square-foot facility at 14811 East Sprague.
Barrier Motors has announced a major expansion of its Volvo dealership in Bellevue. Several buildings near its existing franchise will be demolished to make room for a new 21,610-square-foot building for the Volvo franchise.
Dealerships moves in Vancouver include the recent $8 million facility move for Carr Auto Group that relocated from its downtown location to a three-acre site near the Vancouver Auto Mall. Vancouver Ford-Hyundai-Suzuki has opened separate showrooms for the two import brands, a $7 million expansion project; Alan Webb Dodge-Mazda will move its operation to a site near Vancouver Ford in early 2009, another $7 million project; and Vancouver Toyota has plans to add nine acres to its site and become the first green-certified dealership in the state.
Courtesy Ford of Port Townsend recently closed its doors, leaving Price Ford-Lincoln-Mercury in Port Angeles as the only Ford dealership on the North Olympic Peninsula. Courtesy owners, who also operate three dealerships in the Poulsbo area, cited economic conditions in the area as part of their decision to close the Ford store.
Apple Valley Honda in Wenatchee is attempting to purchase land in East Wenatchee as it has outgrown its current 1.3-acre site. Several local dealerships have moved, or are planning moves, to East Wenatchee.
