Yorba Linda, Calif.—When Peter Guy opened Good Guys Automotive in 1995 he said he was already a seasoned veteran.  “My career in automotive repair began more than 36 years ago; I was an ASE Master Certified technician for over 20 years and my specialty was as a drivability tech,” Guy said. “I did check-engine lights, emissions testing, tune-ups, carburetors, then EFI and computer diagnostics.”

Cerritos, Calif.—On March 27, 2009, Cerritos College held a groundbreaking ceremony for its eagerly anticipated Southland Cerritos Center for Transportation Technologies (SCCTT). Less than a year later, the facility is nearing completion with an anticipated opening date in April, said Aya Abelon, Cerritos College coordinator of media relations.

Long Beach, Calif.—WyoTech Long Beach was founded in 1969 as the Rosston School, said David Ziemer, the school’s automotive department chairman.  “In 2000, the school was acquired by Corinthian Colleges and the name was changed to the National Institute of Technology,” Ziemer said. “Then in 2007, it was changed to WyoTech Long Beach.”

Huntington Beach, Calif.--John Gustafson, owner of Gustafson Brothers, believes so strongly in training that he’s building a 5,000-square-foot addition to the shop this year in part to house a new training facility.
