AkzoNobel starts estimating training for Toyota Dealer-Owned Collision Centers
RSS Feed

Norcross, Ga. -- AkzoNobel recently introduced the first of a unique and comprehensive estimating course for Toyota Dealer-Owned Collision Centers.  The goal of the program is to give estimators a consistent method of writing damage while providing consumers and insurers a clearer understanding of their repair investment.

Scott Wheeler, AkzoNobel Services consultant, said the course "provides numerous real-life estimating exercises." Topics include:

•    How to write a consistent estimate.

•    How to identify mechanical and frame damage, as well as a method to estimate the damage.

•    How to justify repair times.

•    Review of the "P-pages" and commonly missed items.

•    How to justify mask, jamb, and refinish times.

•    How to negotiate using win-win tactics.

The course also reinforces the Toyota dealer's access to Toyota Information System (TIS) for gaining access to Toyota collision repair procedures and bulletins.  TIS tips are shared with technicians for improved repair accuracy and efficiency.  In addition, TIS may be used to justify the appropriate repair procedure for portions of a vehicle's assembly.

"This course is one of the basic requirements for Toyota Certified Collision Center estimators," said Brad Brahe, Toyota's Body Shop Process Improvement manager.  "AkzoNobel will be doing multiple estimating courses for Toyota dealers in 2008 and 2009."
