Air Ride '70 Chevelle, Speed '33 Given Away in Columbus!
RSS Feed

Columbus, OH - The 2008 Grand Prize Giveaway Cars have officially been given away! Today was the day as thousands of observers gathered at the Ohio Expo Center to see the 11th PPG Nationals awards ceremony and to see who would drive away the Air Ride Technologies 1970 Chevelle and the Speed '33 from ASC and the Roadster Shop.

1970 Chevelle Winner:

Dean Erb of Phoenix, Arizona drew the lucky key that started the '70 Chevelle. His wife Risa went berserk as he rapped out the 600-horsepower World Products big block Chevy engine as color coordinated balloons dropped from the ceiling. "I'm gonna drive this baby back home to Phoenix," Erb shouted to the capacity crowd. "We'll leave first thing tomorrow morning! What kind of gas mileage does it get?"

Erb joined Goodguys last fall at the Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was in Scottsdale that he was chosen as a final qualifier for the Chevelle. He's relatively new to the hot rod seen but is an avid collector of Harley Davidson motorcycles. He acquired a '33 Ford three window coupe last year to attend his first-ever Goodguys event last fall in Scottsdale. "The '33 Ford is now my wife's car. The Chevelle is all mine," he joked.

Erb, 54, is a retired Phoenix Police Officer.

Speed '33 Winner:

Yorkville, Ohio's Eric Antonacci won the Speed '33 From ASC and the Roadster Shop. It wasn't an easy wait for the 28 year old custom home builder as he was the first qualifier to be chosen right here at the 10th PPG Nationals last July. He had to wait one full year for his big chance and when they key he had drawn started the black and gold hot rod, you could see a combination of shock, bewilderment and disbelief on his face. "SWEET" were the first words out of his mouth.

The Muscle Car collector now has a genuine All American hot rod to add to his collection. His stable of muscle cars includes a 1967 Corvair, '66 Plymouth Valiant and a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere. He's been a Goodguys member for four years now and never misses the Goodguys PPG Nationals here in Columbus.

He also asked Mark Trostle of American Speed, manufacturer's of the steel '33 body "This car was built to drive right?" Both Trostle and Phil & Jeremy Gerber of the Roadster Shop assured him the car would be the best performing car in his garage.

Winner of the Air Ride 70 Chevelle was 54 year old Dean Erb of Phoenix, AZ. Erb was joined for the celebration with Brett Voelkel of Air Ride Technologies.

Winner of the Speed '33 was Eric Antonacci of Yorkville, Ohio. Antonacci, 28, was greeted by ASC's Mark Trostle (right) and brother's Phil & Jeremy Gerber of the Roadster Shop.
