The Gary Lang Auto Group of McHenry is celebrating 25 years in business. In the near future, a new facility will be called Gary Lang Imports, and will include Kia, Subaru, and Mitsubishi.
Long time auto dealer Jack Schmidt will be closing his Chevrolet dealership in Collinsville; his other dealerships in area will remain open.
The Automotive Parts and Service Association of Illinois (APSA-IL) announced the winners of the Ralph Silverman Memorial Fund Scholarship Cards vs. Cubs Game Raffle. Dave Shelter of Morrison Auto Supply won the Grand Prize; and Breck Loos of Sterling NAPA Auto Parts was awarded second place.
Zara's Collision Center of Springfield recently received I-CAR's Russ Verona Memorial Award for actively promoting and conducting the Gold Class training, and personifying the professionalism and high degree of quality inherent in the I-CAR Gold Class Standard.

In Memoriam: Mike Biffar, owner of Precision Automotive of Waterloo passed away on Aug. 18 at the age of 48. He was an Alliance of Automotive Service Providers (AASP) member and an important part of the EXCEL Trade Show and Training Conference.
INDIANA
After two years of renovation Mike Anderson Chevrolet of Merrillville has celebrated its' grand re-opening. The 70,000-square-foot facility was redesigned as part of GM's Image Program and features 32 bays and a collision shop, along with a new entrance.
Curry Auto Center of Bloomington announced the addition of the Chevrolet nameplate to its current stable of GM products such as, Buick, Cadillac, Pontiac, and GMC trucks. A recent land purchase will allow for the additional displays and the construction of a new collision center.
Federal-Mogal Corp. announced that it will be expanding its' automotive lighting manufacturing facilities in Avilla, investing more than $6 million and creating up to 50 jobs by 2010.
Toyota of Muncie has added Scion to their new-state-of-the-art dealership. The facility has been designed for an improved consumer experience and includes a lounge and accessory boutique.
Best-One Tire & Service has opened a new location in Newburgh. The service center features 10 bays, a showroom with leather couches and a flat-screen TV, a refreshment counter and a children's' area.
MISSOURI
Subaru of O'Fallon recently closed the doors of its new $3 million facility after a year and a half of business.
Chrysler LLC recently announced its plans to close its St. Louis South plant in Fenton by Oct. 31 due to low demand for Chrysler minivans.
John Londoff Jr. recently purchased Johnny Londoff Chevrolet from his father John Londoff Sr. The Florissant dealership opened in 1960.
Reliable Mazda of Springfield was awarded the Mazda Gold Cup certification for 2008, the highest honor a dealer can receive from Mazda, for their dedication to customer satisfaction.
Kingdom Kia of Rolla recently opened the doors of its new dealership. It is one of six new Kia dealerships that will open in 2008 offering high gas mileage vehicles at low prices.
NAPA Auto Parts of Washington and Sullivan are now locally and family owned. The new owners are Jim and Iva Buchanan, and Ryan and Heather Meuer.

KENTUCKY
Hart County Auto Parts is celebrating 24 years in business and has recently expanded to a new location in Mundfordville with the addition of Parts City, a division of O'Reilly Auto Parts.
Somerset Automotive Group, a full line General Motors Dealership, recently added Terry Conders as the parts and service department manager. Condors has more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry.
