Grand Island, Neb. -- The Nebraska Autobody Association (NABA) will hold its 2007 convention at the Interstate Holiday Inn in Grand Island on April 13-14. This is the association's 30th year.

"The convention has a Las Vegas theme," said Pat Hancock of Bob's Body Shop. "The venders will have Vegas-style games set up at their booths, and the attendees will be able to participate as they go through the convention."

Hancock and her husband, Bob, have been members of NABA for 30 years. She is the contact person for the exhibitors.
Registration begins Friday, April 13, at 7:30 a.m. That morning, D.J. Harrington, an author, journalist, seminar leader, international trainer, and marketing consultant, will conduct a seminar from 8:30 to 10 a.m. titled "Checkup from the Neck Up."  An I-CAR class on new vehicle technology will run from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.

Friday afternoon's programs include a seminar on shop safety with Margaret Hansen from 3M Corp., which runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and Don Fritz, a motivational speaker, will speak from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

At 5 p.m., the exhibits will open with a cocktail hour, meals, and a strolling magician and caricature artist until 7 p.m. To finish the night out, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. there will be the Trade Show, Vegas Theme Games, Best Exhibit Award, and Best Caricature Award.

Saturday will start off with registration from 7:30 to 9 a.m., with the trade show open until noon. From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Todd Hoffman will speak on "Scene of the Accident." Hoffman has been in the automotive field for more than 30 years and has spent the last six years traveling the country training automobile technicians and insurance appraisers in vehicle construction and repair procedures. From 3:45 to 5 p.m., a member of the Nebraska State Patrol will talk about accident investigation.

On Saturday evening from 5 to 5:30 p.m., there will be a cocktail hour and silent auction. The banquet starts at 7 p.m., followed by entertainment, awards, and an auction, with the party ending at 10 p.m.

Norbert Zaenglein, executive director of NABA, is expecting a record turnout for the 30th anniversary and convention.
