Peachtree City, Ga.--Behr Hella Service has just introduced a versatile, nonhygroscopic A/C compressor oil that works in all types of mobile A/C systems and features a leak detection agent.
The new universal synthetic oil, PAO-Oil 68 Plus UV, is exclusively available from Hella Inc., the North American aftermarket subsidiary of automotive lighting and electronics supplier Hella.
The suitability of Behr Hella PAO-Oil 68 Plus UV for all types of A/C systems eliminates the need to stock different oils in order to meet various application requirements. This multigrade oil is designed to deliver a higher level of performance in passenger cars, vans, and trucks, as well as agricultural and construction equipment.
The oil's leak-detection ingredient is a concentrated, highly effective UV dye that does not affect the oil's performance. It is very advantageous for service providers and fleet owners/managers because it eliminates the need to add a leak-detection chemical during the A/C service. The ability to cover lubrication and leak detection in a single step saves time and money.
The PAO-Oils from Behr Hella Service are nonhygroscopic, so they do not absorb moisture. That allows storage for long periods after opening. Furthermore, they are compatible with other lubricants and reduce the noise level of the compressor.

The molecules in PAO-Oil 68 Plus UV oil are engineered to attach themselves to all metallic surfaces in the air-conditioning system, displace other molecules (such as oils, dirt), and form a thin oil film on the surface of the system's components.
"Since the PAO-Oil molecules join other molecules, this oil film is virtually just one molecule thick," said Friedrich Danke, Behr Hella Service's thermal management expert. "In contrast to many other oils, there is no danger of oil accumulation in the evaporator and related reduction in cooling performance."
Hella and Behr Hella Service offer an exclusive warranty to its PAO Oil customers. If in the event that a compressor becomes defective because of Behr Hella Service PAO-Oil, all parts costs (new compressor) and labor costs (removal and replacement of compressor) are covered by Behr Hella Service.
