CAWA members air issues with Calif. Sen. Harman

Sacramento--The California/Nevada/Arizona Automotive Wholesalers' Association (CAWA) held a private meeting with state Sen. Tom Harman at Hub Auto Supply in Costa Mesa on March 18 to talk about critical legislative and regulatory issues of concern to the association and its members.

Harman, a Republican, is member of the Senate's Transportation and Housing Committee and the Business, Professions, and Economic Development Committee, two key panels that CAWA-related issues move through.

CAWA officials said they discussed issues such as attempts to erode workers' compensation reforms, skyrocketing costs of health care for employees, repeated attempts to lock the aftermarket out from providing parts and repairs to consumers, increased need for career and technical training programs, and actions by the California Air Resources Board to extend warranties and propose bans of automotive-related products, eliminating choices in what parts and services consumers can use on their vehicle.
