Jasper opens distribution center to better serve western U.S.

Jasper, Ind.--Jasper Engines & Transmissions said it has opened a distribution center in Kingman, Ariz., to better serve its branches and customers.

Completed in early May, the 69,000-square-foot facility is in the Kingman Airport Industrial Park, northeast of town.  Jasper uses approximately half the building now, with the rest reserved for expansion.

"With our Crawford, Ind., distribution center so far away, we needed to have a large West Coast warehouse to give our customers the level of service they need and deserve," said Zach Bawel, Jasper vice president of sales.  "As we continue to grow on the West Coast, the Kingman facility will become even more important."

In its present configuration, the Kingman distribution center receives up to six shipments from Jasper each week to keep fully stocked with 2,400 remanufactured products.  In turn, Kingman sends out up to six trucks each week to service the Southern California, Phoenix, Northern California, and Las Vegas branches.  From a business standpoint, Kingman is a great distribution point for the west, Bawel said.

"Kingman is located along Interstate 40, a direct route into the California market, which is a huge automotive market," he said.  "This allows Jasper to deliver to the Phoenix, Las Vegas, Southern California, and Bay Area of California next day with our own fleet of delivery trucks."

As demand warrants, Jasper can store up to 3,800 units in its current layout or use the entire building to store more than 8,000 finished units.  Plus, a spur line can be routed to the building for rail service, if needed.

"This new distribution center will facilitate our growth in California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah," Bawel said.
