Long-time Illinois shop stays ahead of curve by adapting to times

Belleville, Ill.—After 87 years in business, the Meckfessel family is going strong in independent service and repair. “My grandfather started the shop in 1927,” said Mark Meckfessel, who, along with his brother, Kent, and sister, Mandy, has run Meckfessel Tire and Auto since their father retired 10 years ago. It’s been in the same location since 1928, when Meckfessel’s grandfather bought out his partner, moved the shop, and literally moved in upstairs.
