Industry newcomer hits ground running

Marketing expert uses skills to promote shop and drive business with yearly growth

Irvine, Calif.—Margie van Lierop had no experience in the auto repair business when she opened Viking AutoCare in 2011. What she did have was an extensive background in marketing, which has been a key factor in building the shop’s customer base.

“Our business grew 11.5 percent in 2012 and 9.5 percent in 2013,” she said, “and we are on pace for double-digit growth in 2014.”
