Yingling’s Auto Service, Topeka, Kan., has been selected as an annual Top 10 website by ASA and AutoInc. magazine. Since its inception, AutoInc.’s Top 10 contest has served as a guide to help member-shop owners create a site that proactively promotes their business through cost-effective digital marketing. “In today’s connected society, the importance of effective customer communication is vital to business success,” said Tony Molla, ASA’s vice president. “This year’s crop of top websites shows how the best shops in the industry are using social media to serve their customers and promote their businesses.
Stet Schanze, of Gray Manufacturing Company in St. Joseph, Mo., was elected to a third term as chairman of the board for the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI), dedicated to vehicle lift safety. ALI members elected the 2018 board of directors at the organization’s annual meeting Oct. 29, in Las Vegas.
Billie Estes, of Estes Collision & Towing in Miami, Okla., was selected from thousands of participants to win a Spanesi Q5.2 welder that was raffled from the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) booth at the SEMA Show. The Spanesi Q5.2 welder is valued at more than $8,500. To become eligible for the drawing, Estes and other visitors to the SCRS booth had to pick up a “report card” listing all the exhibiting sponsors of Repairer Driven Education, and visit their booth locations within the show.
Registration for ASA Midwest’s Vision Hi-Tech Training & Expo is now open online. The training lineup is also complete and the new website has launched at visionkc.com. The conference is March 1-4, Hi-Tech Tool Expo, March 1, and the Expo, March 2-3, in Kansas City, Kan., at the Overland Park Convention Center.
Big O Tires has expanded in Iowa, Kansas and Missouri with locations formerly NTB Tire & Service Centers in partnership with Mark Rhee and Western Automotive Ventures. “Over the past two years, we have opened more than 75 stores and expanded the Big O Tires brand into three new states with both new and existing franchisees,” said Lenny Valentino, vice president of Franchise Development for TBC Corporation. \
CARSTAR Omaha locations presented keys to a minivan to a Salvation Army chaplain during their annual Tree of Lights Kickoff in Omaha recently. A 2007 Chrysler Town & Country was donated by State Farm Insurance. Technicians at CARSTAR Don & Ron’s volunteered their skills to repair and refurbish the minivan, which the Salvation Army had requested. It is the second year CARSTAR has partnered with the Salvation Army. The Omaha CARSTAR locations take turns repairing a salvage vehicle each year. Platinum sponsor Baxter Chrysler donated OEM parts for the repair.
