Empire Lakewood Nissan announced it has opened a new state-of-the-art Nissan dealership at 14707 W Colfax Ave., Lakewood. Along with the new store, it has added two new employees, Thomas Treviso in retail sales and Mike Velasquez as full-time wholesale sales. Velasquez has more than 26 years in wholesale experience. “Along with Kayla Burns and Richard Rineer, we now have over 100 years of automotive experience on our staff,” said Rick Leonard, parts manager. “I’m very excited for the dealership. This is a great step forward for Empire Nissan and we are looking forward to helping all our customers and local repair shops in the future.”
For the ninth year in a row, BASF supported the Women’s Industry Network (WIN) annual conference, held in May in Denver, as a Gold sponsor. The company also sponsored a breakfast and the WIN “Scholarship Industry Walk” at the event. BASF supports WIN at several events throughout the year. “WIN creates a network that supports women in the industry that allows us to develop personally and professionally, which is why BASF encourages our employees to participate. We had record attendance at the 2017 conference and look forward to expanding in years to come,” BASF NA Distribution Director Denise Kingstrom said.

The Gold Cup award is an exclusive designation given to a Mazda dealership for its focus and dedication to customer satisfaction and new vehicle sales.
Gates Corporation has been recognized as the Denver Public School’s (DPS) CareerSpark Partner of the Year. The CareerSpark Industry Exploration Program partners with Denver businesses to expose middle school students to professional work environments and inspires them to consider careers in STEM industries. Gates was honored at the DPS CareerConnect Partnership Recognition Breakfast in April, in Denver, and was nominated for its work in developing and hosting a customized curriculum for middle school students.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has donated a 2015 Chrysler 200s, a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, a 2014 Chrysler 300c and a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk to the MOPAR Career Automotive Program (MCAP) at Arapahoe Community College (ACC). “Our most sincere thanks to Fiat Chrysler for these vehicles,” said Jerry Viola, director of Automotive Technology at ACC. “The 200s, 300c, Laredo and Trailhawk will be tremendous assets for our students.”
Technician Manuel Villalobos, 18, placed first in this year’s state SkillsUSA competition in Automotive Service Technology in Colorado Springs, said Ray Seidel, owner of Four Seasons Automotive in Lakewood, where Villalobos has been a part-time employee since August 2015. He is a WarrenTech student and will attend the National SkillsUSA competition in Louisville, Ky., June 19-23.
