Toyo Tire U.S.A. announced the promotion of Roy Bromfield to president and CEO. In this role, he is responsible for all product categories of Toyo branded business in the U.S. replacement market. “Under Roy’s leadership, Toyo sales in the U.S. have grown dramatically, and TTC has become one of our most important global businesses,” said Takashi Shimizu, president of Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. “We have confidence in the team that Mr. Bromfield has built and the strategy that it is executing for continued growth.”
More than 250 of top vehicle builders will compete in the 4th annual SEMA Battle of the Builders competition, with the finalists announced during the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, and the winner announced during the nationwide television taping at SEMA Ignited on Friday, Nov. 3. Dan-Am Co., an independent distributor of SATA, announced the addition of Tim Jackson to its Sales and Technical Team for the U.S. Western region. He was most recently with Lord Corporation and a liaison for I-CAR. “We look forward to having Tim on our team with his relationships connecting us to, or strengthening, our business practices with many large MSOs and customers and with I-CAR,” said Tony Larimer, director of Sales and Marketing at Dan-Am Company.
Custom Automotive Network (CAN) announced Edelbrock as 2017 Manufacturer of the Year. The award is voted on by CAN membershiop in recognition of outstanding contributions to the custom automotive distribution system and in appreciation of conscientious dedication to the industry. The award was presented by CAN’s president, Tracie Nunez, at the 44th Annual CAN Connect Conference on Sept. 10. CAN is formerly known as Performance Warehouse Association.
All new Jaguar Land Rover vehicles will be soon be electrified, the company recently announced. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said, “Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020. We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles. Our first fully electric performance SUV, the Jaguar I-PACE, goes on sale next year.”
The annual Collision Repair Education Foundation industry fundraiser, co-hosted by the automotive refinish business unit of PPG, raised $120,000 through the support of attendees and sponsors. Sponsors and participants recently played golf at the Harborside International in Chicago and the funds raised from the event will go toward supporting scholarships and grants for collision schools and students.
Darwin Moen has joined Remy as its new vice president of sales, announced Dave Nichols, president of Remy Power Products. In his new role, Moen is responsible for sales strategy, program development, customer relations, category management, and establishing and managing key performance indicators. “With over 30 years of sales experience, he has the proven knowledge and expertise needed to lead our sales team and manage the initiatives that will help Remy and our customers grow their businesses together,” Nichols said.
Assured Performance Network announced it has entered into a new business services agreement with Vehicle Collision Experts, LLC (VECO Experts). VECO Experts has been designated as a preferred provider of optional in-shop repair quality support services such as technical training lessons for shop personnel, distribution of monthly quality and equipment reports, and regular technical support. VECO Experts currently provides third-party certification compliance inspections for Assured Performance in select markets across the country.
Advance Auto Parts presented its 2017 Vendor of the Year awards during the company’s annual vendor summit. Advance honored five companies, including ExxonMobil and Motorcar Parts of America, who both received recognition as Advance’s 2017 Vendors of the Year. Additional vendor partner awards in 2017 included: Commercial Excellence Vendor of the Year – MAT Holdings (GRI Engineering and Development); DIY Excellence Vendor of the Year – Sylvania; and Superior Availability Vendor of the Year – Dorman Products, Inc.
Kukui Corporation announced the appointment of Patrick Egan as vice president of marketing. Egan will focus on developing and executing marketing strategies to expand brand awareness and drive demand for KUKUI’s integrated. “We’re growing rapidly and expanding our Success Platform. As such, we need to deepen our engagement with customers and aggressively build our brand,” said Todd Westerlund, CEO of Kukui.
The Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance has promoted John Carlson (JC) Washbish to director of marketing. He will lead the marketing group’s efforts in the development and implementation of all communications, promotions, branding, public relations and event marketing.
