California aftermarket trade event showcases new products and programs

MPMC Media Trade Conference deemed a success with new offerings

Santa Ana, Calif.—The 2019 Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) Media Trade Conference in January at the Embassy Suites, in Santa Ana, Calif., was an unqualified success, according to those in attendance.

The conference featured prescheduled 30-minute private meetings between editorial staffs from national and international print and digital media with up to 100 MPMC-member manufacturers, who showed their latest products.

“The MPMC Media Trade Conference is a unique event where reporters and editors meet with leading manufacturers of motorsports parts and accessories in private, uninterrupted meetings that guarantee editors and reporters are able to ask the questions they are most interested in knowing,” MPMC Chair Jason Bruce said. “Likewise, manufacturers can present information relevant to their products.

“Our 100 exhibitor suites were on four floors instead of two, but we were closer together, which made getting from meeting to meeting easier for the media.”

Of special interest to independent repair shops, installers, and trim shops, were the business-to-business programs (some with zero buy-in) offered by companies such as Classic Industries/Original Equipment Reproduction, Magnaflow, and Amsoil, which allow them to buy direct.

A few of the highlights:

• Classic Industries has released an all-new catalog for Ford Mustang that includes restoration, customization, performance parts, and accessories for all 1964 through 2004 Mustang models. And, Original Equipment Reproduction (OER), manufacturer and distributor of classic GM and Mopar restoration parts and accessories, has expanded its product offering to include products for “The Big Three” iconic American muscle car segments beginning with an all-new restoration parts product line for Ford vehicles. A classic Mustang restoration parts line is available this year.

• Optima is expanding its battery lineup with the new maintenance-free Optima Yellowtop with DIN fitment, available for vehicles ranging from modern domestic performance to European models. The new battery is non-spillable so it can be mounted in any position, and features two first-to-market designs: the radial grid for improved electrical flow, and direct path cast-on straps for increased connectivity. Those design features allow for high-energy flow and an efficient recharge.

• Automotive-related shops, repair centers, auto suppliers, power sports retail centers, and shops that specializes in tools and equipment, can contact Amsoil to become qualified as an Amsoil retailer. The company has enhanced programs to eliminate shipping costs, include attractive shelving and merchandising kits, and list businesses on the Amsoil corporate website. It will also assist in marketing.
