Northwest automotive students winners at national SkillsUSA Championships

Louisville, Ky.-With more than 16,000 students, teachers, and industry partners in attendance, the 54th annual SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) provided hands-on skills contests in 100 various trade, technical, and leadership fields. Held June 25-29, in Louisville, Ky., the NLSC included several automotive-related competitions with winners from state high school- and college-level contests competing with one another at the national event.
Students from across the Northwest placed in the following contests:
• Automotive Service Technology/High School, John Meyers, Dennis Technical Education Center, Boise, Idaho, Gold
• Collision Damage Appraisal/High School, Eric Austin, Technical Education Center, Salem, Ore., Bronze
• Motorcycle Service Technology/College, Kevin Neill, Bates Technical College, Tacoma, Wash., Gold
Other automotive competitions include Automotive Refinishing Technology, Collision Repair Technology, and Diesel Equipment Technology.
