Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes has released its 2019 shop calendar, showcasing several high quality builds including a 1953 Chevrolet 5 Window, painted by Taylor Olson, of Danner Paint & Autobody, in Joplin, Mo. The Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes 2019 Calendar is available through the nearly 200 Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes’ stores nationwide.
TechForce Foundation has announced Andrew Fields, of Rob Sight Ford in Kansas City, Mo., as its 2018 Techs Rock Awards “Rookie of the Year” category winner. The awards recognize working technicians who are striving to mentor and inspire the next generation of technicians, bringing excellence to their workplaces and communities, and demonstrating passion and commitment to the profession. More than 250 working techs nationwide were nominated for one of five categories, including Pay it Forward, Rookie of the Year, Die Hard Tech, Outstanding Mentor, and Barrier Buster.
Enterprise Holdings last month announced a pilot program with GM, describing a goal of adding more than 100,000 connected vehicles from the OEM to the Enterprise, National and Alamo rental fleets by the end of 2019.
Vatterott College abruptly shut down all campuses, affecting hundreds of tech students in the Kansas City area. Vatterott Educational Centers Inc. closed all its schools including its Kansas City campus on North Corrington Avenue. Former students are encouraged to contact local community colleges for transfer information.
Oakes Auto acquires another area dealership in Kansas City area. The Kansas City, Kan., company acquired Jack Miller Kia at 2900 Burlington St. in North Kansas City which has been rebranded as Oakes Kia.Oakes Auto plans to boost inventory at the Kia dealership as well as service capacity.
All Star Automotive has new owner, but it will be business as usual for customers after Bob Buchheit has sold the shop to another local automotive repair shop owner, Devin Kelley. Effective December 1, 2018, Kelley merged his DK Motors operations with those of the existing locations of All Star Automotive, at 7 N. 1st St., and 808 North Boulevard. He closed his Big Bear Boulevard location on December 1st and will keep all employees of the two businesses.
Midwest Wheel Announces New Territory Manager for Cedar Rapids Branch as Mitch Davis has accepted the position. Mitch joined Midwest Wheel in 2010 and recently held the position of Parts Manager. He will report to Kevin Hadenfeldt, Branch Manager - Cedar Rapids, and Adam Clark, VP of Sales and Operations.
The ICRA is bringing important, exciting and relevant information back to Des Moines, February 16th with Midwest Education Day. Mark Olson, VECO Experts will lead this information day that will include a group Estimating Roundtable discussion and a collision industry legislative update. CARSTAR has been voted a “Winner” in the Best of Omaha competition for 2019. “We are excited our customers and friends voted CARSTAR as one of the Omaha’s top body shops,” said Margaret Keith, CARSTAR marketing manager. This is the fifth year that CARSTAR has been selected. There are three CARSTAR locations in Omaha.
