Jasper Engines and Transmissions has announced the following changes to its production leadership team. David Burbidge has been named general manager of Jasper Innovative Solutions (JIS). Luke Bawel has been named division manager of Jasper’s Power Drive Transmission Division. Sara Schmidt will join the Production Control Team as Production Control Manager. “Thank you to all of these great Jasper leaders for their contributions and for their willingness to take on new responsibilities,” said Zach Bawel, Jasper president and COO. “We are confident that their continued efforts will keep JASPER growing and thriving.”
The Auto Care Association was recognized as a “Red Hot Association” by DCA Live at the first annual DCA Live 2018 Red Hot Not Profits and Associations event in Arlington, Va. The event honored Washington, D.C.-based organizations that demonstrated performance as a high growth or innovative nonprofit or association.
Verisk, a data analytics provider, has announced an alliance with Omnitracs, a global pioneer of fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies. As the first large-fleet commercial telematics service provider to align with Verisk, Omnitracs will now offer its subscribers the ability to contribute data to the Verisk Data Exchange and apply analytics to the operational safety of their connected fleets.
Cardone Industries has announced a new video competition for automotive technicians to share their installation skills and enter to win $5,000. Technicians of all skill levels are required to create and share an original video featuring the installation or service of an under-the-hood or under-the-car automotive part. Advance Auto Parts presented its 2018 “Vendor of the Year” award to BP-Lubricants Castrol during the company’s annual Supplier Summit held recently in Raleigh, N.C. The was presented to Castrol in recognition of its collaborative planning, focused marketing strategies and role in driving new sales and customer partnerships.
Bosch has announced an investment in Mojio, a technology platform and SaaS provider for connected cars, as well as an innovation agreement to co-develop a suite of advanced connected car services. Mojio has developed a range of connected car solutions, including its hardware agnostic cloud platform, mobile apps for consumers and small businesses, and services for big data analytics. Bosch and Mojio will co-develop solutions in focused areas, beginning with vehicle communication and diagnostics as well as crash detection and notification.
Automotive Parts Associates (APA) program group began the process of transitioning a new identity across all communications platforms with a modern logo and domain name as a part of a larger rebranding strategy. The multi-faceted communications tactical plan is designed to differentiate and establish the nonprofit cooperative’s branding and identity as a separate entity rather than using the Professionals’ Choice Auto Parts private label brand to represent the organization as a whole. In addition to the new logo launch, APA also began redirecting visitors from the professionalschoice.com website to the new URL, www.APA.parts.
Dayco Products has announced the appointment of Angela Golden as the new head of marketing. Golden will lead all automotive and industrial aftermarket marketing efforts in the U.S. Golden joins Dayco from NGK Spark Plugs, where she was responsible marketing NGK and NTK brands through advertising, promotions, product launches and events. She has spent over a decade working with the automotive industry in B2B and B2C markets.
Bosch Automotive Aftermarket has announced an investment in Shop-Ware, a San Francisco-based shop management and customer retention platform. With the new investment, independent Bosch Car Service (BCS) shops in North America will have special access to the Shop-Ware platform, while allowing Shop-Ware to further invest in its system and increase connectivity to third-party software, market penetration and feature roadmap. Shop-Ware is currently available to all North American Bosch Car Service shops.
The Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association (CIECA) has announced that Stacey Phillips will be joining the national organization as the marketing and communications coordinator. “In her new role, Stacey will be instrumental as CIECA continues to promote the adoption of BMS (Business Message Suite) standards,” said Fred Iantorno, executive director of CIECA. “Her expertise in marketing and communication strategies will help CIECA communicate its mission to develop and promote electronic communication standards that allow the collision industry to be more efficient.”

The Auto Care Association has established a memorial fund in honor of former president and CEO, Al Gaspar. Donations made to the University of the Aftermarket Foundation in Gaspar’s memory will be used to fund scholarships and industry educational initiatives. Gaspar died in November at the age of 79, and served as president and CEO of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), the precursor to the Auto Care Association, from 2000 until 2004.
