The Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance has promoted John Carlson “JC” Washbish to vice president of Marketing. Washbish will continue to lead the marketing efforts for the Alliance including promotions, branding, communications and events. He was previously the director of marketing having joined the Alliance in this capacity in June of 2016.

PurePower Technologies had a number of remanufactured products on display at the recent Heavy-Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) in Las Vegas in January. MERA — The Association for Sustainable Manufacturing reported the show was a great success for its members involved in the commercial vehicle industry.

EMPI has teamed up with Bozzani VW to sponsor its 2019 Triple Crown Race Series. The company also announced the addition of its 5th Triple Cr own Racing class, “Real Street,” sponsored by Chico Performance. The first race will be March 10, in Irwindale, Calif.

Wadsworth International has partnered with VECO Experts to support its vehicle manufacturer-certified collision repair networks. VECO Experts will conduct the initial field assessments of shops administered by Wadsworth International, which is a consulting firm offering vehicle manufacturers an automotive aftersales custom solution through a transparent extension of the individual OEM brand.

Federated Auto Parts and Ken Schrader will celebrate 20 years together in 2019 as Federated has renewed its sponsorship of Ken Schrader Racing for the upcoming season. As part of the sponsorship, Schrader will conduct “Get Dirty with Kenny” racing experiences for Federated members and their Car Care Center customers at dirt tracks across the country. In addition, Federated will be the primary sponsor of Schrader’s dirt track teams and an associate sponsor of the Ken Schrader Racing ARCA teams.

DENSO Products and Services Americas will serve as the lead sponsor of Pro Stock Motorcycle racers Angie and Matt Smith in the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. The move builds on DENSO’s support for the husband-and-wife teammates by elevating DENSO’s associate sponsorship of Matt Smith to a primary sponsorship and renewing DENSO’s primary sponsorship of Angie Smith for the second consecutive year. Angie Smith will race on a new bike – the DENSO-powered EBR motorcycle – the same model that carried Matt Smith to victory last year.

Midtronics CEO Steve McShane has announced the promotion of Will Sampson to president. The new role gives Sampson full responsibility for the company’s strategic direction, global growth and profitability going forward. McShane will continue in his role as CEO of the company, which he founded in 1984. Sampson most recently served as executive vice president and general manager with overall responsibility for the company’s transportation division. He joined the company in 1994.

PPG as announced that Jamie Redd, PPG training center manager and automotive refinish expert, has been selected by SkillsUSA to train recent high school graduate Dylan Wertz for the 45th WorldSkills Competition to be held at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre in Kazan, Russia, in August. Wertz will compete in the car painting category. He qualified for the competition by winning the category in the SkillsUSA Championships held last June in Louisville, Kentucky.

Genuine Parts Company (GPC) announced that Scott A. Sonnemaker has joined the company as Group President, North American Automotive. Sonnemaker will have responsibility for all aspects of the automotive business in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Paul Donahue, president and CEO of Genuine Parts Company, said, “Scott is a proven leader and executive with an extensive distribution background making him an excellent choice for this new role.” 

WIX Filters is celebrating 80 years of innovation, engineering and commitment to high quality filtration. To recognize the milestone, WIX has unveiled a commemorative logo and will activate in various locations throughout the year. WIX first opened its doors in 1939 in Gastonia, N.C., where its headquarters are still located. The company is now part of the MANN + HUMMEL brand of innovative filtration technology, housing 11 facilities in eight countries and manufactures more than 210 million filters annually for customers spanning 80 countries.

The Enterprise Holdings Foundation has contributed $75,000 to the Collision Repair Education Foundation to support collision education. The donation benefits the entire industry by enhancing the foundation’s ability to offer grants and scholarships to career and technical schools and colleges and the students attending those schools. The Enterprise Holdings Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the company that operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands through its integrated global network of independent and regional subsidiaries and franchises.

Penray has received a special recognition award from the The Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance for consistently exceptional order fill throughout the year. Penray supplies Parts Master and Perfect Stop brands as well as Penray-branded products that, combined, include nearly a hundred different chemicals, treatments, cleaners, and additives. The award was presented in recognition of Penray’s record throughout 2018 as having consistently provided order fill in excess of 98 percent for all of the products and product lines listed above.

Standard Motor Products has announced that James J. Burke has been named COO. Burke is currently the company’s executive vice president finance and CFO. He has been with the company since 1986. He will continue to serve as a member of the office of the chief executive together with Eric Sills, CEO and president, and Dale Burks, executive vice president and chief commercial officer.

CARSTAR is celebrating its 30th year of business. CARSTAR plans to honor the occasion with new initiatives throughout the year that gives back to the communities it serves, from customer appreciation to charitable donations. CARSTAR was founded in 1989 by Lirel Holt.

Mevotech has announced the addition of Don Keeling as the national sales director for Traditional Sales in the U.S. He will also spearhead the development of sales strategies within the channel to accelerate Mevotech’s growth.Keeling comes to Mevotech with more than 20 years of experience from Sunsong North America, AMS Automotive, and NA Williams Company.
