Zara’s Collision Center has been recognized by Ford Motor Co. as a collision repair facility certified by Assured Performance Collision Care. The announcement was made by Brad Zara, president of Zara’s Collision Center. “We take great pride in the F-150 certification,” said Zara. “The 2015 F-150s have aluminum-alloy bodies and steel frames. Drivers in this area who own those vehicles now have a local, certified repair facility for their convenience should an accident occur.” Zara’s is the only Springfield-area body shop to have the Assured Performance certifications, and the only facility in the Springfield area to be certified as a Honda Motor Co. ProFirst collision repair shop.

Lube Stop, a 37-unit quick service oil change company headquartered in Northeast Ohio, announced it has acquired the assets of The Grease Spot Inc., a 13-unit quick service oil change operator with locations in Illinois and Iowa. “For nearly 30 years, Grease Spot has been delivering consistent, convenient and affordable automotive service to customers across the Northern Illinois and Eastern Iowa markets,” said Tony Cammerata, president of Lube Stop. “With this acquisition, we are excited to be joining forces with a highly-experienced Grease Spot team as we look to expand the Lube Stop brand and suite of services into exciting new markets.”

Corvette Funfest is scheduled for Sept. 17-20, in Effingham, and kicks off with a Thursday Night Fun Run, where the Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau hosts a Welcome Fest. The annual Friday Night Charity Event includes a silent auction to raise funds for a worthy cause and the headlining Saturday evening concert caps off the weekend with world class music. Plaza Tire Service, a family-owned company based in Cape Girardeau, Mo., is celebrating 52 years by opening its newest location in Columbia. The new store, located at 1415 Grindstone Plaza Drive on the south side of town, is Plaza Tire Service’s fourth Columbia location and brings the company to a total of seven Mid-Missouri stores. Plaza Tire Service’s new Columbia location occupies approximately 8,650 square feet and consists of a showroom and eight service bays to accommodate the growing community. In addition to its four Columbia locations, Plaza Tire Service also operates stores in Jefferson City, Mexico and Fulton. Plaza Tire Service has 56 stores spread throughout metro St. Louis, Mid-Missouri, Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky and Northeast Arkansas.

The AASP-MO 34th annual EXCEL Trade Show and Training Conference will be Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19, at the St. Charles Convention Center, St. Charles, and is open to the industry. Vehicle Service Group (VSG) announced it is partnering with Habitat for Humanity Jefferson County on a 2015 sponsorship program. The sponsorship includes a monetary donation plus more than 200 hours of direct labor provided by VSG employees to Habitat’s current family build project. “VSG is committed to our local community of Madison and Jefferson County.
