NABC Recycled Rides™ Program Joins Insurance Partners, Collision Repair Companies to Donate Three Refurbished Vehicles to Three Deserving St. Louis Residents in Need of Reliable Transportation

ST. LOUIS (May 28, 2019) – On Monday, June 3, three deserving St. Louis residents will experience a life-changing event – the presentation of vehicles to provide them independence and the ability to work and take care of their families – thanks to the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides™ program along with car donors GEICO, Farmers and USAA and collision repair partners CARSTAR Wentzville, ABRA Autobody and Schaefer Autobody.
The presentation will be held at the NABC Gateway Pars for Cars Golf Fundraiser at the Boone Valley Golf Club, 1319 Schluersburg Rd, Augusta, MO 63332.

WHO:   NABC Recycled Rides™ program, along with partners:
Vehicle donors GEICO, Farmers and USAA
Collision repair partners ABRA Autobody, CARSTAR Wentzville and Schaefer Autobody
Three deserving recipients selected by H.E.R.O.E.S Care (Homefront Enabling Relationships, Opportunities, and Empowerment through Support)

WHAT:   NABC, its insurance partners and collision repair partners will present three vehicles to deserving individuals, including:
Karen Cooksey, who served in military, has endured debilitating spinal pain, several failed surgeries and ongoing cardiac and diabetes issues.  These conditions made it impossible for her to work, and she became homeless, living in her Jeep. Working with the Veterans’ Administration and H.E.R.O.E.S., she is working to overcome these challenges.  As her Jeep is in poor condition and she isn’t able to afford a car payment with her medical bills, a refurbished vehicle will allow her to get to her medical appointments and hopefully recover so she can return to work.

Adelita Dusley has served nearly 20 years in the military.  After a serious illness, a major vehicle breakdown and a pending divorce caused her to lose her job, and triggered depressed and PTSD, she reached out to H.E.R.O.E.S. to help get her life back on track.  The gift of reliable transportation will help her get back to work and continue her education.

Melvin Wright spent many years in the military and retired with medical issues related to his service. Now, he and his wife have no transportation to their medical appointments, for grocery shopping or other daily needs.  He doesn’t want to be a burden on his family members, so a reliable vehicle would allow him to take care of his wife and himself.

NABC Recycled Rides™ is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the Recycled Rides™ program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council have donated more than 2,100 vehicles valued at more than $36 million.
