Josh Mathus, of Alton, Ill., was a recipient of The Auto Care Association’s 2018 World Class Technician award. In partnership with ASE, the two organizations provide the annual designation to recognize professional technicians who have achieved the extraordinary accomplishment of ASE certification in 22 specialty areas during the 2017 certification test administered by ASE.

Jessica Carrino, of Sparks Tire & Auto, in St. Charles, Mo., is a winner of the The Young Auto Care Network Group (YANG)’s 2018 Auto Care Association Next Step Program scholarship. Carrino is among the 10 young industry professionals selected to attend the Auto Care Association Spring Leadership Days event to gain experience and knowledge of the auto care industry. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $1,100 to offset most expenses for travel and accommodations to, from and during the event. The annual event brings together top auto care industry leaders and will take place May 9-11, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Atlanta.

AkzoNobel distributor Specialty Paint will celebrate its 30th anniversary in June. It has locations in Chicago, Decatur, Ill., Jacksonville, Ill., Peoria, Ill., and Springfield, Ill., and Mishawaka, Ind.

     The St. Louis I-CAR Committee was recognized as a Gold Committee at I-CAR's 2018 Volunteer and Instructor Conference in San Antonio, Texas, Mar 2-4, for accomplishing each goal given to them as an “extended arm and mouthpiece of I-CAR,” according to Terry Ticel, national business development manager. At the same conference, John Helterbrand, department chairman of Automotive Collision Repair and High Performance Racing Technology at Ranken Technical College, was honored with the Founder’s Award.
